pie-pularity poll results 🗳️🥧
The bakery ballot box is officially closed for the year, and Pi Day is behind us!
I love Pi Day because it gives us an opportunity to remind you all that we make a lot of different kinds of pie, some of which we don’t typically sell by the slice. The pie menu is here, check it out!
We also set out to find which Pi Day flavor was the most popular this year… with a few caveats.
We left Key Lime off, but left the option for a write-in. This still may have artificially deflated Key Lime’s showing.
More than one person (but less than four) told me that they may have voted more than once. I think their feelings about a particular flavor was too strong to be counted by just one vote.
The good news is this was never meant to be a statistically rigorous vote. All food opinions are equally valid! But there could only be one Most Popular flavor in Pi Day 2019.
And the winner, by a margin of 22 votes is Banana Cream!
Some interesting notes from the votes. Vote notes!
125 votes were cast in total! Thanks to everyone who indulged in our little game!
Blueberry and Chocolate Dee-Luxe were both tied as the most popular write-in pies, at three votes each! Not too shabby, since there were 12 different kinds of pie represented total.
Both of the write-in votes for Apple Pie were attributed to specific people.
One of them was for Ann’s Apple Pie (our apple pie, recipe courtesy of co-owner Ann!)
The other was for my Great Grandmother Grimes’ Apple Pie (and by “my” I do mean mine, I am sentimental about desserts)
Someone voted for Sugar Pie. Which I didn’t know was a real thing (as opposed to a Four Tops reference), until someone told me I would know it as a Chess Pie. Longtime Tarts fans will remember we did a Blueberry Chess pie last summer, maybe it’s time we revisit that recipe?
One honest soul voted for “Strawberry Rhubarb from Baker’s Square” 😬
Thank you again to everyone who voted, and to everyone who bought some pie today we hope it lived up to the holiday hype. And good news for anyone who came too late to get pie on Thursday - we will still be making fresh Apple Crumb and Triple Berry for Pie Day Friday and Saturday!
